The Magic

We're so excited to offer our first in house yoga teacher training in the Philippines with lead teacher Gloria Baraquio. Gloria has been leading retreats with us around the world for years and leading teacher trainings in Bali, Hawaii, and California and has partnered with us to create a yoga teacher training Yogascapes style. That means an epic destination, delicious healthy food the entire time, amazing accommodation and yoga space, world class teachers, a fun-loving group of students, excursions on the island. And in addition to having a great time, we take the training very seriously. You'll not only walk away with a deeper personal practice and transformational experience but we'll train you to actually be teachers (unlike other trainings). Yes you will of course walk away with a 200-hour yoga alliance certification, but our goal for you is that you walk away more deeply connected to who you are and to your deepest calling in life.

The Food

All food is included at the retreat (and is vegan) except for our excursion days and anyone is of course welcome to eat outside of the retreat. Kali, the life-giving force that gives rise to the animate world is the same energy that drives of transformation and spiritual evolution. The cafe is an homage to the life-giving mother, who has provided us with all that we need to realize our true nature. We create our food the way we envision she would, sourcing produce from our growing vegetable garden and the island’s organic farms. All meals are made with intention, by hand, and from scratch. Nothing from a can or plastic bag. We work with time (e.g organic farming methods, fermentation, etc.), nature, high vibrations, and loving hands.

Island Life

Part of the Yogascapes ethos is that we experience, enjoy, connect, dive deep in to the place that is holding our experience so beautifully. Siargao is surfers paradise (depending on the waves) and we will have a full day free to explore surf life. We are also going to organize a boat excursion to local islands so you can breathe in the island life in full force!
Mopeds are available to rent and restaurants, bars, beaches, smoothies are all within walking distance.

Our Teacher
Gloria Baraquio & Guest Teachers

A yogini from Hawaii, Gloria began her practice in 2003 and after experiencing her ujjayi breath for the first time in a yoga class, she finally understood the importance of breathing and how it could calm, center, and ground her life. She began teaching in 2006 and embarked on a journey through vinyasa, ashtanga, Iyengar, hatha, bhakti, kundalini, somatics, ecstatic dance, Nia, Rolfing, acupuncture, physical theater, and natural foods, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the body, mind, voice, movement, and nutrition. Living both on and off the grid of the Big Island for 7 years was her greatest training in spiritual practice, yoga, natural healing, and community building. She is certified to teach vinyasa and aerial yoga, and she is a Lead Teacher Trainer for Shivakali Yoga.

Retreat Venue

The Venue
Lotus Shores

Nestled in the jungles of the wave-fringed island that is Siargao, we are given the sacred opportunity to practice deep listening and find deep rest. Preserving as much of the natural landscape, the retreat features large gardens, open spaces and architecture inspired by a combination of traditional and minimalist styles. The dedicated spaces for practice (Durga Temple and Yoga Dojo) and communal areas (Kali Ma Cafe & Restaurant) hold a grandeur that leads the mind towards the infinite. The comfortable and minimalist interior of the accommodation inspire clarity of mind and and the inward turning of one’s awareness.
