The Food
All food is included at the retreat (and is vegan) except for our excursion days and anyone is of course welcome to eat outside of the retreat. Kali, the life-giving force that gives rise to the animate world is the same energy that drives of transformation and spiritual evolution. The cafe is an homage to the life-giving mother, who has provided us with all that we need to realize our true nature. We create our food the way we envision she would, sourcing produce from our growing vegetable garden and the island’s organic farms. All meals are made with intention, by hand, and from scratch. Nothing from a can or plastic bag. We work with time (e.g organic farming methods, fermentation, etc.), nature, high vibrations, and loving hands.
Island Life
Part of the Yogascapes ethos is that we experience, enjoy, connect, dive deep in to the place that is holding our experience so beautifully. Siargao is surfers paradise (depending on the waves) and we will have a full day free to explore surf life. We are also going to organize a boat excursion to local islands so you can breathe in the island life in full force!
Mopeds are available to rent and restaurants, bars, beaches, smoothies are all within walking distance.
What is Shivakali Yoga?
We teach an Alignment-Based Vinyasa “flow” practice, culminating in restorative postures, meditation and pranayama. Our practice focuses on presence centered awareness, serving first to awaken the body and break-up stuck energy, and then to soften the mind and nurture our inner being. Uniting the masculine + feminine aspects of practice we find freedom in movement, draw awareness from the mind to the heart, and allow insight to arise naturally.
Learn how to lead this practice at our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher training, Philippines.
*THIS 200-HR PROGRAM IS FULLY-ACCREDITED BY THE YOGA ALLIANCE.
Journey Through the Chakras
Our Yoga Teacher Training in the Phillipines moves through a map of the chakras, starting at the root and ending with the crown!
•During the root segment, students will ground their intentions for teaching/practice, and learn the vast history of Yoga from the Vedas through the Upanishads, Buddhism, Yoga Sutras, Bhakti traditions, Tantric Lineages and contemporary Yoga Schools.
•In the sacral chakra we will uncover the countless layers of the subtle body, learn the principles of Ayurveda, gain an overview of classical Tantra, and practice Yoga Nidra.
•As we progress through the navel chakra we will explore Yoga's connection with power, fire, and introduce Lakshmi practice & the business of Yoga.
•In the heart we encounter the devotional path of Bhakti Yoga, classical Pranayama (breathing) practices, ceremony, prayer and healing. We will connect in nature, and receive teachings on the heart of Shivakali’s traditional philosophy.
We also share in men's and women's circles as part of our process of uniting energies, where we honor identifying with a group other than your assigned-at-birth gender, exploring either collective as you feel called. These are non-binary groups, with the awareness that yogic philosophy states we all have both the feminine and masculine essence inside us!
•Moving upwards into the throat chakra students will learn about Kashmir Shaivism and the Sanskrit language, pronunciation, principles of chanting, and a wealth of mantra & deity practices.
•Progressing to the third eye the training becomes increasingly more subtle, as we encounter an array of Yogic meditations, explore Yogic Buddhism, and turn inward in silence.
•Culminating in the crown, trainees will receive kundalini awakening practices, learn Shakti mantra, Yogic ritual, and receive an initiation into the practice.
Who is this for?

A yogini from Hawaii, Gloria began her practice in 2003 and after experiencing her ujjayi breath for the first time in a yoga class, she finally understood the importance of breathing and how it could calm, center, and ground her life. She began teaching in 2006 and embarked on a journey through vinyasa, ashtanga, Iyengar, hatha, bhakti, kundalini, somatics, ecstatic dance, Nia, Rolfing, acupuncture, physical theater, and natural foods, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the body, mind, voice, movement, and nutrition. Living both on and off the grid of the Big Island for 7 years was her greatest training in spiritual practice, yoga, natural healing, and community building. She is certified to teach vinyasa and aerial yoga, and she is a Lead Teacher Trainer for Shivakali Yoga.
