A yogini from Hawaii, Gloria began her practice in 2003 and after experiencing her ujjayi breath for the first time in a yoga class, she finally understood the importance of breathing and how it could calm, center, and ground her life. She began teaching in 2006 and embarked on a journey through vinyasa, ashtanga, Iyengar, hatha, bhakti, kundalini, somatics, ecstatic dance, Nia, Rolfing, acupuncture, physical theater, and natural foods, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the body, mind, voice, movement, and nutrition. Living both on and off the grid of the Big Island for 7 years was her greatest training in spiritual practice, yoga, natural healing, and community building. She is certified to teach vinyasa and aerial yoga, and she is a Lead Teacher Trainer for Shivakali Yoga.

HOW DO I GET THERE?
When traveling to what many people call the last frontier of the Philippine islands, getting there is going to be a little tricky and hopefully a lot of fun. Don’t worry, you don’t have to work, organize, plan or anything like that once we pick you up.
The Palawan Islands (the two major ones you can fly into are Palawan and Coron) are located west of Manila. We are departing from a town called El Nido, which is about 5 hours north of the main city Puerto Princesa.
Meeting Spot: 2pm - Botanica Cafe in El Nido (a bit away from the crowds)
Arrival We suggest flying into El Nido via Swift-Air from Manilla, Cebu or Coron.
Flights to Manila will either leave the night of the 5th, and you’ll spend one night in MNL to take the air swift at 11am the next morning.
We suggest you travel and front load this trip so that you can end with us and then fly more directly home. However you can also use it as a launching pad as well.
You can also fly into Coron to explore the island there and then take the fast ferry to El Nido in the morning of the 8th!
Departure We suggest flying out of El Nido via Swift-Air on the 12pm flight (no earlier on the 8th)
Notes: You can also fly in and out of Puerto Princesa but please be advised that you’ll have a 5 hour drive ahead of you and the only thing you’ll really be missing in Puerto Princesa is the underground river area.
For the more adventurous traveler and a slightly cheaper flight, you can fly to Puerto Princesa and then take a van, around 500php or, $10, the bus (probably around 350php) or hire a private van for around 3500 php. We don’t suggest this unless you want to see the underground river or can’t find a good flight in or out of El Nido.
Another alternative is visiting Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Siargao or many of the other beautiful islands east of Palawan first before the retreat. The main city to fly into there is Cebu, while you can get direct flights to some of the other islands from Manila.
If you need travel suggestions do not hesitate to ask.
