The Magic

Wake up your sleepy body and soul with this vibrant, sun-filled yoga retreat in the Palawan islands. Palawan Island—often call the last frontier of the Philippines—is hard to beat for island hopping, snorkeling, beautiful beaches, delicious food and friendly vibes. Yogascapes visited some of the fanciest resorts in Palawan to plan this trip, but they lacked the character, the intimacy, and special touches that makes these retreats so unique. So, you'll be going off the beaten path for some rustic private island hopping love full of character, amazing food, snorkeling from your own private beach and more. You'll enjoy a private island escape with white sand beaches and crystal clear water, daily movement classes with an amazing teacher, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, snorkeling and swimming every day, and delicious family style meals with old and new friends. If you’re looking for a 5 star, cush, bland, environmentally abusive retreat in Palawan, take this off your list. If you’re looking for an experience with amazing people you’ll never forget, you’re in the right place!

While all of our teachers are unique, each lives for the intersection of yoga and travel. Our teachers have invested their lives in creating safe and beautiful spaces for their students to grow, heal and have fun. We work with each teacher to create a unique, in depth and inspiring program that allows students to dive deep into their body, mind and spirit, while setting the stage for a deeper connection to the land, the people and the culture everywhere we go and beyond.

FAQ

We’ll take care of feeding you delicious food, often fresh from the sea and nearby local farms. All you have to do is come with an appetite and an openness to new flavors, combinations and conversations. Fresh fruits and vegetables, lots of seafood, plenty of meat for those that eat it and much much more!

When traveling to what many people call the last frontier of the Philippine islands, getting there is going to be a little tricky and hopefully a lot of fun. Don’t worry, you don’t have to work, organize, plan or anything like that once we pick you up.

The Palawan Islands (the two major ones you can fly into are Palawan and Coron) are located west of Manila. We are departing from a town called El Nido, which is about 5 hours north of the main city Puerto Princesa.

Meeting Spot: 2pm - Botanica Cafe in El Nido (a bit away from the crowds)

Arrival We suggest flying into El Nido via Swift-Air from Manilla, Cebu or Coron.

Flights to Manila will either leave the night of the 5th, and you’ll spend one night in MNL to take the air swift at 11am the next morning.

We suggest you travel and front load this trip so that you can end with us and then fly more directly home. However you can also use it as a launching pad.

You can also fly into Coron to explore the island there and then take the fast ferry to El Nido in the morning of the 8th!

Departure We suggest flying out of El Nido via Swift-Air on the 12pm flight (no earlier on the 14th)

Notes: You can also fly in and out of Puerto Princesa but please be advised that you’ll have a 5 hour drive ahead of you and the only thing you’ll really be missing in Puerto Princesa is the underground river area. On the return, you’ll have a shorter trip back to Puerto Princesa, still 4 hours driving.

For the more adventurous traveler and a slightly cheaper flight, you can fly to Puerto Princesa and then take a van, around 500php or, $10, the bus (probably around 350php) or hire a private van for around 3500 php. We don’t suggest this unless you want to see the underground river or can’t find a good flight in or out of El Nido.

Another alternative is visiting Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Siargao or many of the other beautiful islands east of Palawan first before the retreat. The main city to fly into there is Cebu, while you can get direct flights to some of the other islands from Manila.
